Dan Miller from 48 Days gets 100% credit for this blog! I was listening to his most recent podcast on Friday and he presented a concept that I want to share with you.
The way we perceive a challenge shapes the way we deal with it. If we have a mindset that is focused on a situation as a “problem” we will approach it as a “problem”; however, if we perceive the challenge as an “opportunity for a solution” we will approach it as an “opportunity.”
There is a big difference between how we deal with “problems” versus pursuing an “opportunity”!
What is your attitude when you have a problem?
For me it tends to be stressed out, fearful, frustrated, and other non-productive attitudes. A negative attitude is not helpful when trying to solve a problem.
What is your attitude when you are searching for a solution?
For me it is hopeful, energetic, excited, creative, and other positive attitudes. A positive approach to dealing with a problem will yield better solutions more quickly than a negative mindset.
Positive thinking won’t let you do anything, but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will. – Zig Ziglar
This simple shift in the way we perceive challenges will have a dramatic impact on how we work through tough times.
There are no short cuts or magic formulas to solving challenges; however, our attitude makes a big difference.
The next time you are facing an obstacle, embrace the challenge of finding a solution.
You don’t have a problem…you have an opportunity!
